Why you should consider Integrative Sports Nutrition

Sports Nutrition and physical activity go hand-in-hand, but nutrition is often overlooked. Whether you’re a professional athlete or you’re taking your first steps in running a half marathon, your training and results can only be as good as your health and recovery.

An athletes nutrient requirements are higher than a sendentary individuals, why? The intense volume of training undertaken. Not supplying the body with the right nutrients, at the right times and understanding the body on a deep level can severely impact training, performance, recovery and overall health and wellbeing both in the present and future.

When you work with me, I will help you to optimise your nutrition. By doing this, you may see benefits in:

· Your physical and mental health

· Build the foundations of a strong immune system

· Improve energy levels

· Improve recovery time

· Improve your sleep quality (important for strength & performance)

· Maintain or help manage body composition

· Address nutrient deficiencies; vitamins, minerals and macronutrients that are essential to the functioning of the body and which enhance performance, training and recovery.

My unique-approach to Sports Nutrition

My primary focus is on you and your body’s needs as a unique individual. There is no ‘one-size-fits all’ approach when it comes to health and nutrition; your physical activity levels, lifestyle factors and past and current nutrition strategies plus your health and performance goals all decide what your needs are, as will your individual genetics and personal and family health history. By using all of these mentioned factors, I can tailor a plan specifically for your needs and goals whilst integrating a ‘patient-centered approach’ looking at you as the unique individual that you are and how the systems within your body are operating.

My approach combines Nutritional Therapy with Functional Sports Nutrition and bridges the gap between health and sports to allow you to be your very best both in and out of your chosen activity. Without a solid foundation for health, you cannot expect your performance and recovery to be optimal.

It's More Than Calories-In and Calories-Out

Sports Nutrition is much more than calories in, calories out, timing of food intake and macronutrients. You need to be treated as an individual. Your nutrient intakes need to be tailored to the unique human being that you are and micronutrient needs addressed specifically to the deficiencies you may have.

Deficiencies in micronutrients can affect energy metabolism, body composition, fluid balance, tissue and muscle building and repair, as well as a host of metabolic processes essential to how you move (muscular contractions), think (gut health via gut-brain-axis) and feel (energy levels).

What to do next, now that you have chosen to take a personal and individual approach to your performance, recovery, health and wellbeing?
